Abstract

The following research work analyzes the use of digital media and social networks by some major museums to maintain interest and activities during the global quarantine arising from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic at the end of 2019. Seven major museums of the world, selected for the relevance of their collections and global historical significance, as well as the example of Venezuela and its museum institutions, have been taken for the study. The aim is to provide an overview of the social networks and websites they use, their scope, and their styles. Although it is not possible to quantify precisely these changing data, it is possible to have a vision of the relevance that this communicational alternative offers to museums in order not to lose relevance and make their works accessible to the public today.
